HKEAA 15 JUL 2016

Admission Score Calculation
Meeting the University's General Entrance Requirements
Applicants must meet the University's General Entrance Requirements before they will be further considered for admission.
Selection Criteria
Applicants' academic and non-academic achievements, other relevant information that has been provided and, where applicable, interview / test performance, will be used to determine whether applicants can make the final admission shortlist. Applicants can refer to the respective programme entries for information on interview / test requirements. If an interview / a test is given, applicants are required to attend the interview / test according to the date and time stipulated as it is difficult for such to be re-arranged. Failing to do so may result in their applications not to be further considered. Owing to the keen competition, particularly for programmes with a large number of applicants, applicants' programme choice(s) may also be taken into consideration in the selection process.
Admission Score Calculation
Degree Programmes:
With a view to enabling individual Broad Disciplines (BD's) / programmes to choose the most suitable candidates, three admission score calculation mechanisms, namely "4X + 1 Best Elective", "Any Best 5 Subjects" and "Chinese & English Languages + Any Best 3 Subjects", have been introduced. Individual BD's / programmes will adopt any one of the mechanisms for calculating the admission score for initial prioritization of applicants (i.e. P-Score).
Handling of Extended Modules of Mathematics
Students not having the level requirement for the elective subject for meeting the general entrance requirement may be specially considered if they have attained Level 2 or above in one of the Extended Modules of Mathematics.
The handling of M1 / M2 in admission scores calculation for September 2016 entry will remain unchanged. Programmes which have specified the Extended Modules of Mathematics (i.e. M1 or M2) as subjects with the highest weighting, if the weighted subject score of M1 or M2 is higher than that of the "best weighted elective" under the "4X + 1" model, or the "last best weighted subject" under models (ii) and (iii) above, the "best weighted elective" or the "last best weighted subject", and M1 or M2 will each carry 50% weight in the admission score calculation.
